About me
I am Josia Meyer, composer, music producer, and sound designer from Darmstadt. Music has accompanied me in its many forms since childhood. Starting with piano, drums, organ, and guitar, I learned early not only to play music but also to feel and understand it. This versatile musical foundation opened the path to professional music production for me.
Additionally, I completed a church music training program (C-Course), where I deepened my knowledge in theory, ear training, choir conducting, and organ performance. This experience gave me a profound understanding of musical structures and the connection between emotion and sound—a foundation that continues to shape my work today.
Since 2022, I have been studying “Sound and Music Production” at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. There, I have focused extensively on music production, sound design, and game audio. Particularly formative was collaborating with students from animation and game disciplines: in interdisciplinary projects, I experienced the close connection between visuals, interaction, and sound, sharpening my focus on composing for audiovisual media.
A highlight of my studies was a six-month full-time internship at Boom Library, an international leader in sound design and sound libraries. I was involved in all stages of the production process—from field recordings and sound editing to marketing and organization. Particularly valuable was the opportunity to contribute original sounds that were published in commercial libraries. Working with experienced sound designers professionalized my skills and elevated my standards for quality and creativity.
In addition to my work in sound design and film music, I am active as a musician. As a keyboardist in the Baba Shrimp Gang, an indie-pop band from Darmstadt, I bring my passion for modern music production into a creative band environment. This allows me to combine my love for free creativity with my work as a producer and composer.
My goal is to create sound worlds that bring stories to life. Whether in games, film, or music production for artists, I am always searching for sounds that evoke emotion, create atmosphere, and make a project unique. For me, music is more than accompaniment: it is a narrative element that elevates images, scenes, and stories to a deeper level.

Composing
I compose tailor-made music for film, games, and media projects. The story is always at the center: music is meant to enhance emotions, build atmospheres, and give scenes a unique identity. Whether epic and orchestral, minimalist and atmospheric, or modern and electronic, I create individual sound worlds perfectly tailored to each project.
Production
I support artists from the initial idea to the finished song. I handle arrangement, recording, editing, and mixing, ensuring that each production develops its own character. My goal is to realize the artistic vision authentically and create a professional sound that impresses both in the studio and on stage.
Sound Design
I develop unique sounds and acoustic textures for film, games, and interactive media. From atmospheric effects and futuristic sounds to realistic field recordings, each sound element is carefully crafted to make scenes and experiences audible and enhance immersion. My focus is on creativity, precision, and a distinctive sonic signature.
